A new Art Journal

Hello just an extra share this morning. I love making these art journals and over the last couple of days I have made another, so here it is. I have made it with completely recycled materials. I use backing board from envelopes for the cover, even the signatures inside are made from card and papers that were slightly damaged around the edges. They were cut down to make them the perfect size for the journal.

I used the faux leather technique and then embossed with a rose embossing folder on the from and back cover, When this was dry I used Aged Mahogany to colour the roses roughly before using a mixture of distress inks to create the leather look. When this was dry I added protection using mod podge.

I've not listed the whole process as I posted a step by step in March. If you would like to see how, click here.

I am adding this to the Sisterhood of Snarky Stamps: 57 -E is for Embossing Challenge.

  1. Beautiful cover Nick, love the colours that you have used. Will need to look back to March sometime for your step by step being new to your blog. Have heard your name mentioned so many times from emails etc on TV and on Leonie's blog, but joined when Leonie posted the link.
Love your work and hope to be visiting for a long time to come to "borrow" tips and techniques.
Thank you for sharing Nick. Nicola x

  2. I wanted an Art journal but just couldn't find anything that I liked, It had to open flat but I dont really like the spiral bound books much. I found a video to stitch a book that would lay flat and so followed that for the inside. I used a mix of watercolour card, supersmooth, all sorts of types of paper and card. I put a link to the other art journal above to help find it. Now I am a little addicted to making them. I am really happy that you like my work and the things I share, it's amazing to hear and boosts my confidence no end. Thank you again for visiting and taking the time to comment. It does mean an awful lot. Take care xx
