Fridge Magnet Fun

Morning. A little bit of a fun project to share with you today. I had stamped out the words from Leonie's New Collection, playing around with phrases and the idea came along. It reminds me of the magnetic words you can buy for the freezer, so I thought it might make a fun wall hanging.

Firstly I drew a fridge Freezer. It's actually fairly simple, just straight lines with a ruler and a few rounded corners. I did it on to copier paper first to get it right and then transferred it to my card. I needed to keep the rough copy as it would act as a mask later on.

I backed my project onto greyboard and cut out the rough shape of the freezer, so I could recess the magnetic sheet behind the image. I then added a ribbon hanger to the back before adding some plain cardstock to cover up the back, I secured this with Cosmic Shimmer Glue from Creative Expressions.

I shaded the freezer with a selection of grey alcohol markers. Then covered it up with my copier paper mask, securing it with Stick n Spray from Crafters Companion. To colour the background I used Colour Chemistry Inks from Oak House Studios, French Lavender and French Wine which I had mixed with water and applied through a spritzer bottle.

I stamped the words fairly close together (so not to waste the magnetic sheet) on a piece of card in black ink. I stuck the piece to the magnetic sheet with Cosmic Shimmer Glue, allowed to dry and cut out. Then I arranged them on the freezer some of them in a phrase. They can all be rearranged.

To complete the design, I stamped one of the flowers onto the background to look like wallpaper. Then using a waterbrush I pulled out the colour from the background to colour the flowers.

Leonie Launch Previews Part One

Hello and a very warm welcome to Part One of my post to preview the Brand New Launch tonight from Leonie on Hochanda. Tonight she has not only brought us another wonderful collection of Stamps but she has also introduced her own range of Embossing folders.

There are six sets of stamps in the new collection: Everlasting Love, Doodle Hearts, Floral Tapestry, Love Hearts and last but not least All the Love. These will mix and match beautifully with all of the ranges that Leonie has brought us as well as anything else you have in your crafty stash.

There are also 6 Embossing folders in Leonie's first range. They are: Love Lines, Growing Love, Entwined Love, Bubble Explosion, Forever Swirls and Dotty Heart. These match really nicely with the Die Collection that Leonie released at the beginning of the month, but they are also really nice to use independently.

Butterfly Scribbles

Morning, Thank you for stopping by to see what I am sharing with you today. I hope you are well. If you happened to see my Post on May 22nd, you will already know why I am posting this card. I thought I didn't like the original card when I had finished it and so I made a replacement. After I had finished this one, I decided that I did like the other one after all. I hope that make some sense to you.

For this card I took a piece of 8 1/4;; square watercolour card. I took the Scribbled Dreams Sentiment from Leonie' new collection and placed it in the top left of the card, directly opposite I stamped the scribble butterflies in versamark, then embossed with white fine detail powder.

In between these two stamps, I placed one of the butterflies from the Fly to Freedom set. Then I took three word stamps from across Leonie's collection and stamped them in a staggered fashion.

Lightly in pencil, I drew a double box around the sentiment and words. I also drew a box 5 mm from the edge of the card and repeated this another 5 mm from the first line. I created a deckled line along these lines and the lines around the words using a waterproof black fine liner.

I took my fine liner and ruler and drew a series of lines from the boxes to the centre of the card to give the 3D look and feel. Then I repeated this for the butterfly. Using Pebeo Drawing Gum, I masked all of the elements, including both frames around the card.

When this was dry, I took a selection of distress inks and applied them in circles using a smoothies, randomly across my card working from blue to green, through yellow,orange and finally red. The colours I used were: Mermaid Lagoon,Mowed Lawn,Mustard Seed,Fossilized Amber,Mustard Seed,Carved Pumpkin and Candied Apple.

Then I removed my Drawing gum, with my new eraser, now it only takes seconds, Thank you so much Janet!!!. For the beams I used 3 of my Blue Alcohol Markers to graduate the colour from the centre point. I coloured my butterfly using a yellow, orange and red alcohol marker. Finally I coloured the inner of the outer frames in black and layered my design onto a black pearl card blank.

I hope you like the finished card, I have to say I like them both. I think it is a really effective design and I have enjoyed experimenting with different shapes and stamps, Take care and thank you again for your support.xx

Awash With Whales

Morning and Welcome back. Today's project is something different for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, a little bit of mixed media.

I started off by embossing some watercolour card with a 5 x 7 Textures Embossing folder from Crafters Companion, it was the Dry Stone Wall Pattern. Using Chalkboard Comic Shimmer Chalk Paint I rubbed over the embossed area to highlight the bricks and set this aside to dry.

I decided to use one of Leonie's stamps as a whales fin, I stamped it onto watercolour card using a Versafine Ink Pad (Blue Lagoon). When this was dry I used the Brother Scan n Cut to give a 5 mm border around it.

Using the reverse side of a canvas, I painted it using a mixture of Cosmic Shimmer Chalk Paints, Chalkboard and Slate Grey.

I cut away a section of the stone wall background and secured the whales fin to simulate that it was breaking through the gap.

I created the illusion of flowing water and texture with strips of Modroc, soaked in water, then screwed up and manipulated to adhere to the canvas. Once the Modroc had completely set I painted it using Paperartsy Chalkpaint's, Beach Hut and Limelight. I added some white Gesso to small areas and also flicked some over the frame of the canvas to simulate sea foam. I applied some small accents of Shimmer by using Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Paste in Ocean Teal from Creative Expressions and Tim Holtz Stickles (Ice Blue).

Fly Free Crystal Acetate Card

Morning, Hope you are well and are still enjoying the projects I am sharing from Leonie Pujol's New Collection. I have enjoyed sharing with you. 

To make the background for the aperture of my card, I took a sheet of Acetate along with a selection of alcohol inks in yellow, orange and red. I also used some blending solution, 3D Crystal Lacquer and a sheet of tissue paper.

On my sheet of Acetate I added drops of my alcohol inks all over, using more yellow and orange with just a few drops here and there of the red. I then added some blending solution to allow the colour to move, sprinkled some gold mica in at the same time with a generous amount of 3D Lacquer. I then place the tissue paper over the top (I had previously scrunched this) and manipulated the colours and mica until I was happy with the result. I left this to dry over night. 

I made an 8 x 8'' square card from Black Pearl card and cut an aperture using a  Grand spellbinder shape from the centre. I then cut a square of the coloured acetate and secured behind the aperture with red liner tape. I also cut a rectangle of the acetate to go behind my sentiment and set aside.

On a sheet of heat resistant acetate I stamped 3 butterflies from Leonie's Flight To Freedom Set, using versamark, I embossed them with black fine detail embossing powder. I also stamped a sentiment from the collection using the same method.

I folded the acetate with the sentiment around the coloured acetate and secured it behind so nothing showed. Then I layered this onto black pearl card. I shaped this so it was tunnel shaped and attached it to my card using 3D glue gel.

I cut out the butterflies and shaped them before securing them to my card using 3D glue gel, flying free. 

I have tried to capture the look of the card with the light shining through but it didn't work, even with a torch it didn't look good on camera.

Butterfly Mixed Media

Morning. I hope you liked the share yesterday. Today I thought I would share a Mixed Media project that I made with Leonie's new Stamp collection. I chose the butterflies again from the Flight To Freedom Set. I have really enjoyed using Mixed Media and loved making this canvas, so I hope you like it.

I took a piece of canvas board, approximately A4 in size. To begin with I stamped branches and trees over the project as a guideline for building the illusion of a view within a forest. To achieve this I decided on a mixture of garden string for the thicker stems and embroidery cotton for the smaller branches.

Then I took the other elements that I had chosen, some torn corrugated cardboard, ripped and embossed card, a tube I made using garden string wrapped round a paintbrush and coated PVA glue. I also used some hexagonal die cuts that I snipped into along with some ribbon roses I made and some simple paper roses.

When I had arranged all of elements, I painted my project with black gesso and left to dry. When the first coat was dry I felt it needed something else so I destroyed some polystyrene to make some balls and corner element.

Then painted these black also. It's very strange before painting the whole project it started to look too busy, but when it's painted it is less than you think.When the black gesso was dry I stippled around the majority of the board to add more textured with Dyna Acrylic 356 (Violet Blue) The around the paper roses and ribbon roses I added Dyna Acrylic 354 (Red Blue).

Around the edges of the board to about 3 inches in I used Mediterranean Blue gilding polish and then around the edge added Teal Gilding polish both from Creative Expressions. I used the Rich Red gilding polish on the ribbon roses and then built up layers of all the colours throughout the canvas to add more depth.

To finish the colouring of the background and to highlight the trees and branches, I applied Pebeo Gilding wax in both Silver and Renaissance gold. 

I stamped out a selection of butterflies from Leonie's Collection, coloured them with my alcohol markers and sprayed with Crafters Companion Silver Spray and Sparkle. I secured them in place with 3D glue gel.
