Simple Red Rose

Morning Friends and Crafters. Today I thought it might be a good idea to share with you a very simple red rose, it's a great way to start or progress in your Foamiran journey. Take your time with shaping your petals, it's the foundation of your finished piece. The more you put into the shaping the more natural your finished rose will be.

You will need:

Green Foamiran 018 (I had run out so had to use another colour)

Red Foamiran 024

Aluminum Foil

Florist Wire

Hot Glue Gun

Scissors

Step 1: Cut your petal shapes from 3.5 & 4.5 cm squares, shape around 3 of the corners as I have shown in my previous videos. I have included it again here. Colour with a deep purple and rich red oil pastel.

Step 2: Shape your petals, giving them a nice cupped shape, frilled at the edges and rolled backwards.

Step 3: Prepare a pear shaped come and secure to the florist wire with hot glue.

Step 4: Start building up your flower using the smaller petals.

Step 5: Continue building the rose.

Step 6: Finally add some looser petals to give a fuller or rose or leave if your prefer a smaller tighter look.

Step 7, 8 & 9 To make the calyx, I have demonstrated the folds on paper as I dont want to mark on my Foamiran as shown in the first 2 photos. Then cut as in the 3 picture.

Step 10: This will give you this shape when unfolded.

Step 11: Colour with deep green and a little red oil pastel.

Step 12 Fold the petals back together and twist firmly but gently. Unfold and slide this along the florist wire, Secure to the base of your rose with hot glue.

I have included links to my previous videos for shaping as this is a basic rose. As I have said before shaping the petals is the most important step, put in time here or you will not be happy with your end result.

Decorated Foamiran Gift Box)

Hi Friends and Crafters, I do hope you are all well. We all love making blooms from Foamiran from 14 Craft Bar, so I thought it would be a nice idea to share a box I made and decorated to deliver when giving as a gift or even if you sell your flowers. I made a rose and then made the box to fit, so dimensions will depend on your project.

You will need:

Green Foamiran (021)

Pink Foamiran  (007)

White Foamiran (001)

Oil Pastels Green and Pale Pink

Florist Wire

Green Florist Tape

Hot Glue Gun

Aluminum Foil

Box Made to Measure with Viewing Window

Pink Satin Ribbon Bows x 2

Small Mulberry Paper Flowers (Roses and Flowers)

Step 1: Cut the foamiran into squares.

For the Pink Rose: Pink 3.5 x 3.5 cm, White 4.5 x 4.5 and 6 x 6 cm

For the White Roses: 3.5 cm and 4.5 x 4.5 cm

Step 2: Round off 3 of the corners to form a petal shape. I have a video to show this along with Shaping and Colouring on a previous post.

Step 3: Colour all of the petals green at the base. The for the pink rose colour the mid sized one with pink around the edges and the larger petal with a  little pink and some green.

Step 4: Shape all of your petals, heating then twisting and gently stretching them to a petal shape, Finally roll the edges outwards.

Step 5: Form a small come shape with foil, make a hole using a pokey tool and secure the florist wire in place with Hot Glue.

Step 6: Build up your blooms tightly in the center, getting loser as you go.

Step 7: Keep the white rose fairly lose, they want to be small but full.

Step 8: To finish the main rose add a green calyx , a leaf and then wrap with florist tape.

Step 9: Decorate the top of your box with the pink ribbon bows, white foamiran roses as the centerpiece and then some small flowers to create a pleasing effect.

Happy Birthday Chrysanthemum card

Hi Friends and Crafters, today I thought I would share some Chrysanthemums and a birthday card to display them on. These flowers are a great way to start your journey with Foamiran from 14 Craft Bar. They are easy and straightforward to make, although there is a lot of cutting. The Birthday card is made using dies from Sue Wilson.

You will need:

Ecru Foamiran (002)

Green Foamiran (021)

Florist Wire

Aluminum Foil

Hot Glue Gun

Oil Pastels Red, Orange and Yellow Shades of your choice

Sue Wilson Ornate Pierced Rectangles

Sue Wilson Frames and Tags Poppy

Cream Card

White Card

Centura Pearl Base Card

Step 1: Cut a selection of circles in the amounts and sizes shown in the photo. I have also included a cutting guide here to show where to make your cuts

Step 2: Cut your circles as shown in the guide, making sure to stop around 1 cm from the center.

Step 3: Next shape each of the cut section, rounding off the edges to give a petal shape.

Step 4: Colour the petals using your selection of colours, reserve the deepest of your colours for the smallest petals only. Make sure each size of petal gets lighter as the size increases, leaving your largest petal the lightest of all.

Step 5: For the smallest 2 sizes of petals, place on the iron to heat, they will start to curl, let them drop and they will naturally form a cupped shape. The larger petals need to be heated and gently folded in turn.

Step 6: Take a small piece of scrap foamiran, large enough to cover a small ball of foil, colour this to match your petals. Secure the wire to the foil ball with hot glue. Thread one of the smallest petals onto the wire, add a drop of hot glue and secure as tightly as possible to your bud. Take another and secure slightly loser, repeat this with each consecutive petal, lastly add a green one which will form the greenery.

Step 7: Finally add a leaf to your flower.

For the Card:

Step 1: Use the pierced rectangles (tow largest dies) Cutting centrally in card measuring 7 1/2 x 6''. Cut the smaller from cream and the larger from white and secure together with Tacky Glue

Step 2: Emboss a piece of cream card, again 7 1/2 x 6''. Here I have used Tied Together by Couture Creations.

Step 3: Cut the poppy frame in white and the base frame in cream, layer together.

Step 4: Cut the decorative oval in white and a plain oval in cream, Layer them together.

Step 5: Assemble the card as shown using foam pads to give depth and dimension to the decorative insert and the outer frame.

Step 6: Finally layer onto your base card made with Ivory Centura Pearl.

A card For A Friend

Hi Crafters and Friends, I am back with a little more inspiration for you with card for a friend using Foamiran from 14 Craft Bar along with some Sue Wilson Dies. I do hope you are enjoying the good weather and it's not to hot for you all.

You will need:

Red Foamiran (024)

Green Foamiran (021)

White Foamiran (001)

Oil Pastels Deep Red and Purple

Small, Medium and Large Ball Tools

Foam Mat

Glue Gun

Foliage Dies- Here I have used Verdant Vines from Tonic

Sue Wilson Ornate Rectangles (Noble Collection)

Burgundy Cardstock

Ivory Centura Pearl

3D Glue Gel

Step 1: Prepare your chosen layers using the ivory and burgundy cardstock. (See Photo)

Step 2: Layer onto your base card, made with Ivory Centura Pearl.

Step 3: Place the small design in the center using tacky glue. Raise the decorative layer using 3 mm foam tape or foam tabs.

Step 4: For the small accent flowers, cut 2 cm squares, you will need 5 for each flower. Shape by trimming around the 3 edges. See my previous posts for a video showing cutting and shaping.

Step 5: Repeat this for the red roses, using 3 cm squares and 4 cm squares. You will need 9 small and 4 or 5 large petals for each rose.

Step 6: Colour your petals using dark red and purple oil pastels. Don't use the purple on the larger petals.

Step 7: Use your ball tools to form a cupped petal, use the small for the small petal, medium for the medium and large for the large petal.

Step 8: Shape each of the petals at the edges, frilling and rolling the edges. Please ignore the white petal in the photo, I got carried away, the white petals only need to be cupped.

Step 9: Assemble your roses using a hot glue gun. See my previous video for the technique.

Step 10: Arrange your blooms and foliage and secure to you card using 3D glue gel.
