Parchment Butterflies

Morning, My project today is a parchment card using the Classiques 'Take Flight' die set from Crafters Companion. The set comprises of a beautiful lace design and butterflies, which can be cut out or left in your project, making them incredibly versatile. This project is ideal for those who want to create a parchment look with ease.

Firstly, I took a piece of parchment a little larger than the finished piece to allow for the edge design. I made my first cut, then lined up carefully to create the square. It is fairly straight forward, but it is worth taking the time to ensure the perfect look.

Using the waste edge and a 2 hole pricking tool I shaped the corners.

Next I snipped through the holes. I've inverted the pattern here, but you could also carry on the edge design if you wanted to.

Next I positioned the butterfly dies from the same set. The parchment is tougher than you think, but again it's worth taking the time to release the dies carefully.

To add the white work, I used stamps from the 'Rose Buds' A6 rubber stamp set from Crafters Companion. Having masked off the edges with scrap copier paper, I stamped the design using white Stayzon ink. I embossed from the back using an embossing mat and tool before colouring with alcohol markers.

I chose blue Centura Pearl to layer the project onto, then added this to a base card made with Centura Pearl 'Hint of Silver'.

As I said this is a great way to achieve that parchment look in a fraction of the time. I hope you like the finished card along with the step by step I have shared today.

Hope to see you all soon. Take care and Happy Crafting.xxx

Oriental Wishes

Today I'd like to share a parchment card I made for my Sisters Birthday. I decided to create my design using the Groovi System from Clarity. A couple of the plates were launched when Hochanda visited Alexandra Palace.

To create this design I used four of the Groovi plates Ornate Boxes, Trellis, Geisha and the Waterhouse plates. I started by working out where the Geisha needed to be, I completed her to the waist and added the parasol. Then I added the grasses below before adding the remainder of her dress.

Then I added the waterhouse as the focal point and the grasses on the right side. I then added the inner part of my frame using the larges box from the ornate boxes plate. This then allowed me to add the branches, blossoms, leaves and grasses within this frame. I added the same box to create the outer frame, I simply moved it along and matched up to enlarge it. Then taking the trellis plate I filled the space in between.

Before adding the colour, I decided where I wanted to add my whitework, I added all of this before adding any colour. On the trellis, I used black where the lines went underneath each other to give it more of a 3D look. I added all of the colour on the reverse of the parchment apart from the roof struts as I wanted these to be a lot blacker, so coloured at the front.

Thank you ever so much for visiting my blog again today. I hope you are all still enjoying the things I am sharing. Thank you also for your comments, I really do value these and love to read them. xxx

Parchment Thank You Card

Morning, I would like to say Thank You to you all today for your continued support and for all of the wonderful comments that you leave. I really hope you enjoy what I share with you.

So today, I thought I would share my Thank You card. This is my own design, It's not from a pattern or a grid. It's basically a collection of flowers that I have used to make a corner and then duplicated it for the opposite corner. I started with a piece of 8' x 8' parchment and using a mapping pen and white ink I traced my design.

To join the two corners together I used a ribbon image and traced this onto the parchment using the same white ink. I then used a grid to add the embossed dots. I the edged the design with embossed dots and some piercing using a Pergamano grid.

I then filled my flowers with white work. I traced a couple of butterflies and then coloured them with my alcohol markers.

To mount the parchment, I centred the design onto a piece of purple card 7 1/2' x 7 1/2', folded the edges and secured at the back of the card with red liner tape. This was then layered onto  dark purple card at an angle and secured to my base card.

Thank you again for visiting and I really hope that you will stop by again soon. Take care xx
