Chinese Lantern using Leonie Pujols New Stamp Collection

Morning Everyone. I hope you enjoyed last nights show, I thought it was great and I am looking forward to more demos from Leonie today. This morning I want to share  the Chinese lantern that I made using Leonie's Stamps, here I used the butterflies from The Flight To Freedom set.

To start with I cut 4 rectangles measuring 14 x 18 cm, from black card, which was the size I needed for the particular dies I used, Sue Wilson's Australian Background and Scattered Leaves Background. For these dies, score each rectangle at 1 cm, to give a tab for assembly. Then I centred the dies into each of the sections, two of each (don't forget to allow for the tab).

Then using red liner tape I attached the panels together alternately. Leave the last tab unstuck to allow easy access to the inside to adhere the parchment later.

To make the graduated box lid I cut 3 squares of black card:
Box lid 1: 15 1/2 cm square, scored at 1 cm on all sides,
Box lid 2: 10 cm square, scored at 1/2 cm and 1 1/2 cm on all sides. The 1/2 cm allows for a tab to adhere to box lid 1.
Box lid 3: 5 1/2 cm Square, scored at 1/2 cm and 1 1/2 cmm on all sides. The 1/2 cm allows for the tab to adhere to box lid 2.

These were then made up and glued using red liner tape, before securing the top lid I made a hole and threaded a chain through and secured behind so that it was hidden once assembled.

I placed plain parchment behind the Scattered leaves section with red liner tape and set aside. I then cut two more pieces of parchment to fit the Australian Background panels. I stamped the butterflies in each panel using a White Stazon ink pad. The I embossed the outline using a small ball tool and added whitework using a larger ball tool. Then I coloured them using a selection of alcohol markers.

Finally I stuck the parchment into the frame using red liner tape and closed the tab. I added a closure flap at the bottom but as this is a lantern cover it is not really required. If you do want to add the flap, the measurements for this box are 13 x 16 cm scored at 1 cm from one end and 2cm from the opposite end. The 1 cm creates the tab to be secured using red liner tape and the 2 cm forms the flap.

I hope you have enjoyed this share from Leonies new collection. Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you will visit again. There's more to come. Take care xx
