Birds Of A Feather

Morning Everyone, Today I am sharing a fairly simple but effective card, using the feather collection of stamps from Bee Crafty, drawn by Sam. I have really loved designing with all of the stamps in the collection. They are so versatile and have been drawn with the most amazing detail. Here I have used the large straight feathers as a frame for another of the wonderful sentiments.

For this project I took a sheet of Cream Linen cardstock. I then stamped the feather onto copier paper, cut this out and then in half to act as a mask so I could stamp the frame. For the frame I used Black Archival Ink.

Using the same ink, I then stamped my sentiment, you can find this either in the complete set or in the Wordage Section of the Bee Crafty website.

Next I stamped four more feathers on to copier paper and cut them out. These dont have to be to precise as it's mainly to keep any ink from covering the detail. I wanted the cream card to show through the feathers. I covered the feathers with the mask I had made using Temporary Adhesive Spray. I also took some crap paper to mask off the rest of my background, The tore some paper into cloud shapes for the sky.

Using Shaded Lilac, Blueprint Sketch and Stormy Sky Distress Inks, I blended from the edge inwards to create a halo around my sentiment.. I hardly used any ink at all in the centre, just enough to blend.

I removed all of the masks and removed the residue from the adhesive. I took a fine black liner and added some very simple birds in the sky, I trimmed around my design, leaving 1/2 inch around the image. Lastly I matted the project onto Blue Pearl Cardstock. The finished card measures 8 x 8''.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at what I am sharing with you today. I hope you have enjoyed my step by step and that you will visit again very soon.
