Art Explosion, Using the Leonie Pujol Collection

Morning everyone and welcome to an explosion of Art. A new card I have made using Leonie's stamps and stencil collection. I did mention a little while ago that I have found them inspirational and totally addictive to use, my ideas just keep coming.

For this project, I took a piece of Velvet card measuring 8 1/4 square. I then positioned my art masks and secured them with Crafters Companion Stick n Spray, then drew around them using a waterproof fineliner pen. Then removed the masks and sticky residue using a paper stump.

Next, I took one stamp and positioned it 3 times in between the art words. I actually added 2 more later to balance the design.

I then found the centre point and drew a series of lines with a waterproof fine-liner pen, joining the stamps and words to give the illusion that the words and stamps were flying outwards.

Using Pebeo Drawing Gum, I filled the words and stamped images. The using a selection of Leonie's other stamps I filled in the lines connected to the squares. I chose solid stamps for one edge to make them appear 3 dimensional. The masking for this step is very easy, simply a sheet of copier paper each side of the line you are working on.

For the lines connecting the words, I selected 4 shades of grey to colour them, continuing the 3 dimensional feel. Once this was complete I used the drawing gum to mask. You could easily use a paper mask if you prefer.

To add the dramatic colour to contrast with the monotone design, I used smoothies to apply 3 colours of Distress Ink. For this project I used: Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Festive Berries.

So, quite a different look for Leonie's Collection, I hope you like the finished project. To finish I added a 5mm border, by drawing a deckled edge frame with my black fine liner, then layered onto black card.

Thank you so much for popping by to see this step by step. I really hope you have had as much fun as I did making it. Thanks for all of your lovely comments and continued support.Take care xx

  2. This one really leaps off the card at you. The colours so bright contrasting so well against the greys. It is so dimensional, something that I am rubbish at. You have explained what you have done so well,it is easy to understand ,if not necessarily easy to actually do!
You should be opening an exhibition with all these amazing pieces of art work!
Thank you for sharing. Nicola x
